Job Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Vice President (VP) of Revenue Cycle to oversee and drive the efficiency and effectiveness of the full revenue cycle for a large-scale client organization. This leadership role will be responsible for managing both front-end and back-end revenue cycle operations, ensuring timely and accurate billing, collections, and overall financial health. The ideal candidate will possess a strategic vision, strong leadership skills, and deep expertise in revenue cycle management across a complex and large-scale organization.

Essential Functions and Tasks

Strategic Leadership:

  • Lead the development and execution of strategies to optimize the revenue cycle, focusing on maximizing collections, reducing denials and accelerating cash collections.
  • Oversee both front-end (data-entry to billing) and back-end (coding, billing, collections, denials management, and accounts receivable) operations.
  • Collaborate closely with senior leadership, to ensure alignment with broader organizational goals.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the effectiveness of revenue cycle operations and implement corrective actions as necessary.

Revenue Cycle Operations:

  • Ensure timely and accurate claims submission.
  • Supervise and continuously improve the processes for follow-up, payment posting, and denials management.
  • Ensure adherence to policies and procedures to comply with federal, state, and payer regulations (e.g., HIPAA, CMS, payer contracts).
  • Identify opportunities for incorporating technology and process automation to improve outcomes and turnaround times.

Team Leadership and Development:

  • Manage and mentor a diverse team of revenue cycle professionals, ensuring high levels of engagement, performance, and retention.
  • Provide ongoing training and development opportunities to foster continuous improvement in skill sets and processes across both front and back office operations.
  • Establish clear communication channels within the revenue cycle team and with other departments to ensure cohesive operations.

Performance and Reporting:

  • Drive the management of accounts receivable (AR) aging, ensuring timely collections and resolution of any outstanding balances.
  • Regularly report to executive leadership on revenue cycle performance, trends, and opportunities for process improvements.
  • Implement data analytics to identify opportunities for reducing days in accounts receivable (AR) and improving cash flow.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in revenue cycle management, with at least 5 years in a global leadership capacity
  • In-depth knowledge of healthcare revenue cycle management, including front-end and back-end processes, coding, billing, compliance, and payer contract management.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proven experience with large-scale physician revenue cycle operations
  • Strong understanding of regulatory requirements (e.g., HIPAA, CMS, payer regulations) and industry best practices.
  • Demonstrated success in improving revenue cycle performance, reducing AR days, and optimizing cash flow.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead, collaborate, and influence at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to drive change management and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Certification in Revenue Cycle Management (e.g., CHFP, CRCR).
  • Experience in a large, complex healthcare system or multi-facility organization.
